Fundraising intern (Brussels office)

The World Organisation Against Torture Office in Brussels is seeking to recruit an intern for its Development Team to provide increased capacity for researching new funding opportunities, supporting the reporting function, and support the office in adopting OpenProject and other new Development processes.

ABOUT THE OMCT

The OMCT works with around 200 member organisations which constitute its SOS-Torture Network, to end torture, fight impunity and protect human rights defenders worldwide. Together, we make up the largest global group actively standing up to torture in more than 75 countries. Helping local voices be heard, we support our vital partners in the field and provide direct assistance to victims. Our international secretariat is based in Geneva, with offices in Brussels and Tunis.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern will work under the supervision of the Development Advisor for Institutional Giving. The intern will implement a variety of tasks, providing an opportunity to understand the range of work conducted by Development teams in the human rights sector. The intern will have opportunities to engage with programme staff, external partners, and funders, in the course of their work.

Main responsibilities

Fundraising activities:

  • Researching prospective institutional donors, their strategies, deadlines, and requirements for the submission of proposals;
  • Donor mapping (Belgium and EU);
  • Maintenance of the CRM (Salesforce);
  • Participating in drafting proposals


Reporting:

  • Supporting internal data collection processes
  • Creating report templates
  • Data entry and cleaning
  • Participating in drafting and finalising donor reports


Project Management Software:

  • Data entry and cleaning
  • System administration tasks


Donor Engagement:

  • Coordinating donor briefings
  • Drafting letters of acknowledgment for donors and donations


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Currently enrolled in a master's programme in social sciences, marketing, communications, journalism, or related field
  • Familiarity with various software – Salesforce, OpenProject, Microsoft Office (Excel, Sharepoint)
  • Excellent research, drafting and editing skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and adapt easily to working with multidisciplinary teams in a multicultural environment
  • Ability to grasp ideas quickly, propose solutions, and work on projects autonomously
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and French


WHAT WE OFFER

Remuneration: 300 EURO per month

Starting date: 1 September 2025

Duration of the internship: 6 months
