Areas of Work
The Afghanistan Democracy and Development Organisation (ADDO) was founded in 2013 in Kabul, Afghanistan, as a human rights organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights through research, advocacy, capacity building, awareness campaigns, and digital rights initiatives.
Despite the exile of its management following the Taliban's takeover in 2021, ADDO has maintained a small office in Kabul and remained active in 14 provinces. It has established the first Digital Civil Society Institute in Afghanistan, developed a podcast dedicated to civil society topics and reported on arbitrary detention and detention conditions. Since October 2022, ADDO has been involved in establishing the Afghanistan Human Rights Defenders Network (HRD+) with the support of OMCT.
