Finance intern

The World Organisation Against Torture Office in Geneva is seeking to recruit a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the Finance Team during a high-demand period. We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic intern with a strong commitment to human rights and social justice causes to be part of a small yet dynamic finance team.

ABOUT THE OMCT

The OMCT works with around 200 member organisations which constitute its SOS-Torture Network, to end torture, fight impunity and protect human rights defenders worldwide. Together, we make up the largest global group actively standing up to torture in more than 75 countries. Helping local voices be heard, we support our vital partners in the field and provide direct assistance to victims. Our international secretariat is based in Geneva, with offices in Brussels and Tunis.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

The intern will assist in daily financial operations, contribute to the preparation of key documentation, and help ensure smooth departmental functioning during staff absences. The Finance intern will report to the Finance and Compliance Coordinator.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assist with the payments process
  • Prepare timesheets for Geneva office personnel
  • Perform data entry and updates in the organization’s database

Other responsibilities:

  • To be defined based on operational needs and the intern’s demonstrated capabilities


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Currently enrolled in studies in full or part-time studies in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • The internship must be a compulsory part of the education curriculum and as such one of the conditions to obtain the desired certificate/diploma (validated through earning of credits)
  • Candidates must be available for 40-50% during the term and 100% during term holidays
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Strong command of English and French, both written and verbal
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment


WHAT WE OFFER

Remuneration: 500 CHF per month

Starting date: ideally 1 July 2025, depending on intern’s availability

Duration of the internship: 4 months
