Areas of Work
The Cedar Centre for Legal Studies is an independent, non-profit organization based in Lebanon, committed to promoting human rights, social justice, and the rule of law. Established in 2013, the Centre conducts legal research, advocacy, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening democratic practices and legal accountability. It works to protect vulnerable groups, including victims of torture, refugees, and those subjected to arbitrary detention or enforced disappearance.
Through its Legal Support Program, the Centre offers direct legal assistance, strategic litigation, and documentation of violations. In December 2024, it established a specialized Rehabilitation Centre for Victims of Torture, providing holistic support—including legal aid, psychological care, and social reintegration—for survivors.
