Areas of Work
CLRDC is a non-profit, non-stock, non-government organization in the Philippines committed to advancing the rights, interests, and welfare of children who are victims of violence through its direct legal assistance and policy reform advocacy program, respectively. CLRDC provides legal as well as psycho-social interventions to child victims of sexual abuse, torture, as well as to children who came in contact with law and children deprived of liberty. CLRDC focuses on addressing access to justice concerns within the five pillars of the criminal justice system. In order to ensure that legislations are crafted within the framework of the child’s best interest, CLRDC engages in policy reform advocacy by bringing the voices and concerns of the children it serves through constructive policy dialogues at Congress. CLRDC submits parallel reports to UNHRC and other Human Rights Treaty Bodies. It also provides capacity building to its partner local government unit for the prevention of Torture and the establishment of a local policy mechanism to ensure that child victims of arrest and detention are properly treated.
