Colectivo Nicaragua Nunca Más

Areas of Work

The Colectivo de Derechos Humanos Nicaragua Nunca Más consists of human rights defenders who fled Nicaragua in April 2019 due to persecution after exposing abuses by the authoritarian regime. The members of the Colectivo were previously part of the Nicaraguan Center for Human Rights (Cenidh), a member of the SOS-Torture Network, until its legal status was revoked on 12 December 2018. Shortly after, on 14 December 2018, Cenidh’s premises were confiscated.
Operating in exile from Costa Rica, the Colectivo continues to defend human rights amid increasing reports of torture, ill-treatment, and illegal detentions in Nicaragua. They document, investigate, and denounce these crimes internationally, regularly publishing reports on the abuse of political prisoners, human rights defenders, and journalists in Nicaragua. Additionally, they support torture survivors and litigate cases related to human rights defenders before the Inter-American System.
