Areas of Work
The Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly (HCA)- Vanadzor is a leading NGO in Armenia. It works for the eradication of torture in Armenia and the whole South Caucasus region. HCA Vanadzor provides free legal assistance to victims of human rights violations, including of torture, and has extensive experience in strategic litigations, including before the European Court of Human Rights. It conducts human rights monitoring in closed institutions such as state mental health facilities to prevent torture and ill-treatment. Other areas of work include police monitoring and reform, enforced disappearance and transitional justice.
