Areas of Work
The International Committee for Investigation of Torture in Belarus (ICIT) is a coalition of five Belarusian human rights organisations – Legal Initiative, Human Constanta, Belarusian Documentation Center, Zviano, and Her Rights - that joined forces in the aftermath of the post-election violence and mass arrests in August 2020 to document torture and other human rights violations perpetrated by Belarusian authorities on peaceful protesters and political opponents. Since then, the Committee has documented around 1500 cases of torture and ill-treatment.
