Media Initiative for Human Rights (MIHR)

Areas of Work

The Media Initiative for Human Rights (MIHR) is a Ukrainian NGO that combines journalism and human rights protection to uncover Russian war crimes in Ukraine and to respond to human rights violations related to the Russian aggression. The MIHR, with its office based in Kyiv, was founded in 2017.

The main activities of MIHR are investigating war crimes with a focus on crimes related to Russian aggression in Ukraine, including torture, forcible disappearances, improper detention of prisoners of war, and monitoring war trials in Russian-occupied territories. MIHR also analyzes the practices of the Russian military and prepares recommendations for the Ukrainian government, international community, and the public to achieve justice. Additionally, MIHR advocates for changes in government policies and social practices to ensure the provision and observance of human rights and freedoms.
