The Venezuelan Prison Observatory (Observatorio Venezolano de Prisiones - OVP) is a non-governmental organisation that was created in 2002 and whose main mission is the defence and promotion of human rights of persons deprived of liberty in Venezuela. The OVP monitors the situation of persons deprived of liberty through 16 different coordination points in the country, which allows to document detention conditions and report relevant cases to national and international bodies, including torture, inhuman and degrading treatment and other acts of ill-treatment and enforced disappearance cases.
