OMCT E-Bulletin - 81st session of the Committee against Torture

The OMCT mobilizes and coordinates civil society access to the United Nations Committee against Torture (CAT). During this session, representatives of 25 civil society organizations (CSOs) engaged with the CAT members during NGO private briefings, which take place before the consideration of the States reports. At the end of the session, the CAT published its Concluding Observations for each reviewed State party report.

Upcoming Sessions

82nd CAT session (07 April 2025 - 02 May 2025)

The Committee will review the State Party reports of Armenia, France, Mauritius, Monaco, Turkmenistan, and Ukraine and adopt the List of Issues for Pakistan and Tajikistan and the Lists of Issues Prior to Reporting (LOIPR) for Antigua and Barbuda, Botswana, Iceland, Iraq, Kenya, Montenegro, the State of Palestine, and Uruguay.

• The deadline for CSOs’ submissions for the State report reviews at the 82nd session is 10 March 2025.
• The deadline for CSOs’ submissions for the List of Issues (LOIs) and List of Issues Prior to Reporting (LOIPR) for the 82nd session is 13 January 2025.
• Written submissions should be sent in Word format to the following e-mail address: ohchr-cat@un.org.

83rd CAT session (July 2025)

The Committee will review the State Party reports of Albania, Argentina, Bahrain and Israel.

• The deadline for CSOs’ submissions for the State report reviews at the 83rd session is set 4 weeks before the beginning of the session (exact date to be confirmed).
• Written submissions should be sent in Word format to the following e-mail address: ohchr-cat@un.org.
