The International Secretariat of OMCT has received new information concerning the following situation in Chad.
Brief Description of the Situation
The International Secretariat of OMCT has been informed by l’Association Jeunesse Anti-clivage, a member of the OMCT network of the release of Mr Amadou Yaille which took place on May 30th, 2002.
Reminder of the situation
The International Secretariat of OMCT was informed by l’Association Jeunesse Anti-clivage, a member of the OMCT network, of the arrest and detention of Mr Amadou Yaille, inhabitant of the village of Braou/Binder. As a result of reprisals against the population of the village of Braou/Binder, which had disarmed customs officials operating in their village, Mr Amadou Yaille and 7 other persons were arrested. Only Mr. Amadou Yaille had not been released.
Remarks
OMCT welcomes the release of Mr Amadou Yaille and would like to thank all individuals and institutions that intervened concerning this case.
