The International Secretariat of OMCT has been informed by a reliable source of trial of 21 persons, including a child, who could face the death penalty in Iran.

According to the information received, 21 Iranians, 13 Jews and 8 Muslims, accused of spying for Israel and the United States and arrested in the months of March and April 1999, face trial on 13th April 2000 in Shiraz. If convicted, they could face the death penalty. The youngest of this group is a 16 year old (see Case IRN 120400.CC)

The International Secretariat of OMCT has received the following names of some of those detained:
Nejat Berukhimnejad, 35, a religious leader who was arrested in Isfahan and transferred to Shiraz.
Faramarz Kashi, 34, and Farhad Kashi, 30, brothers arrested in Shiraz.
