The International Secretariat of OMCT has received new information concerning the following situation in Sudan.

New Information

The International Secretariat of OMCT has been informed by a reliable source of the release of four members of the Beja Congress.

According to the information received, Ali Hussain Ali, Mohamed Samra, Hussain Adam and Dr. Mahmoud Osman Ibrahim have been released. Dr. Ibrahim was released in April 2005 and the others were released on 30 June 2005.

Reminder of the Situation

According to the information received, in the early morning of 1 February 2005, security forces in Port Sudan arrested Mr. Abdallah Mussa Abdallah, Secretary General of the Beja Congress in the Red Sea State, from his home in Port Sudan, Eastern region of Sudan. On the same day, the security forces also arrested senior members of the Beja Congress in Port Sudan and Kassala including the above-mentioned persons.
